THE LINGUIST REGISTRATION WIZARD
A SIMPLE GUIDE TO COMPLETING THE BOXES
Please read the following notes as an aid to correct and speedy registration.
You can print these instructions using the PRINT option on your browser toolbar or menus.
The Linguist Register is our means of matching clients' requirements to your key skills - so they get the best service and you get the work that suits you best. Our registration form is attached to a sophisticated computer search programme designed to achieve this, so please give your entries careful thought. We do not require a full personal history and sending us a C.V. will not get you onto the database! Data needs to be entered by you to ensure 100% accuracy.
The process is a simple step by step one: before you start, it helps to have your CV to hand with the dates for education and professional qualifications, past employment activities, professional memberships etc.
We also suggest that you print off the first page of the registration form and consider: which activity sectors you have a background knowledge of (Maximum 5 entries) which business categories you understand in detail (Maximum 20 entries) Generally speaking, we will only accept your registration and offer you work for services and in subjects for which you have qualifications or experience.
If you make a mistake, you will have plenty of opportunity to correct it:
The following table describes each ENTRY BOX / BUTTON per page of the Wizard, and shows what is required from the registrant.
PERSONAL DETAILS PAGE |
|
| ENTRY BOX / BUTTON | ACTION TO COMPLETE |
| Title | Mr/Mrs/Miss/Ms/Prof/Dr as per your country's form and style. |
| Given Name | First / Christian name as you wish to be addressed or only the initial if you prefer to be addressed by your title and family name. |
| Family Name | Your legal last name as you use it in an address format. |
Please be very careful to get this 100% right! If you change this address in the future we strongly recommend you to put forwarding link in place and certainly advise us of the change when you do so. You can do this by logging on to Linguist Register site with your username and password and clicking My Details. Then, update your e-mail address using the Registration Wizard. Remember to check your e-mail regularly! Most people check their e-mail about three times a day, every day of the workweek and also do so at weekends. |
|
| Telephone, fax and mobile numbers | We ask for day, evening and weekend numbers as we receive work at all hours of the day and night, right through the seven-day week cycle. Please enter the number as from the UK if you live elsewhere e.g. Germany would be (0049) as country code plus the number. We will not contact you by phone before 8am nor after 10pm (22:00) local time but we may e-mail or fax you at any time if urgency requires. If you do not wish to give your mobile or the week end number then type "no" in the relevant box(es). If you do not have a fax then type "none" in the box. Remember: the more accessible you are, especially by e-mail, the greater the likelihood of assignments coming to you. |
| Address | Several lines are left blank as address information by line sequence does change from country to country. Please enter the lines as they would appear on an envelope addressed to you. |
| Postal Code | This is clearly important and should be entered in the form which electronic sorting expects in your country. |
| Country | Select from the list box. |
| Activity Sector and Business Category | Look at both the activity sector and the business category before completion of either list. The activity sector is generic-thus if you have been a farmer, food processor or retailer, hotelier or restaurant owner then the label "food" would generally cover all these and should be ticked. This is the "value chain". Enter activity sectors of which you have a general working knowledge. The business category then selects where you are in the value chain per the above. Select categories for which you have detailed experience or expertise. The search programme first looks at the activity sector and then the business category so consistency helps. Do not tick more than five of the activities and no more than twenty of the business categories (you must tick at least one of each). We will not accept entries over these levels. |

Entries for non-native languages will not be accepted without at least one entry in either 'professional qualifications' or 'professional experience'. |
